Counselling offers an opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings and concerns that are important to you in a safe, confidential setting. It offers you an opportunity to work towards living in a more satisfying and resourceful way by enabling you to let go of unhelpful ways of being. It can support you in coming to terms with accepting anything that cannot be changed. Counselling can empower you to find your own sources of insight, which allows you to be more conscious of who you are. The objectives of each particular counselling relationship will vary according to each individual’s need - I invite you to share with me yourparticular needs.
I am a qualified and experienced counsellor who holds an advanced Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I have been in professional practice since 2001. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and adhere to their code of practice & ethical standards. I am also an associate member of the United Kingdom Association for Humanistic Psychology Practitioners (UKAHPP) and abide by their ethical framework. I remain committed to both my personal and professional development and have undergone my own personal therapy.
I have worked as a counsellor in a range of community settings; a counselling and support centre for women experiencing post natal depression, a community health project and a primary school offering therapeutic support to children. I currently work in private practice and also offer work supervision.
As an integrative counsellor my practice focuses on the therapeutic relationship established with clients. I offer you the opportunity to be heard without judgement, and endeavour to create a nurturing, safe environment built on respect and understanding. My practice pays attention to how past experiences can be carried across to the present and I am mindful of how this may impact upon the counselling relationship. As well as listening therapeutically I offer the opportunity to work creatively with art materials, objects and simple relaxation techniques. The aim of the work undertaken is not just to relieve pressing issues of the moment, but also to seek a more optimistic and untroubled future.
I offer both short term and long term counselling, to individuals, couples, organisations and offer therapeutic support to children. I see clients in Inverness and from my home outside Dingwall. At the first meeting we will assess your needs and together agree how best you may be helped.
£35.00 per session* for individuals £40.00 per session* for couples
